Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 23 August 2026

These Terms and Conditions apply to appointments and services provided by Maria De Souza Barros, trading as Gloriam, at 240–242 Kennington Park Road, London SE11 4DA.

By booking an appointment, paying a deposit or receiving a service from Gloriam, you confirm that you have read and accepted these Terms and Conditions.

1. Appointments

All services are available by appointment only.

Appointments may be requested by telephone, WhatsApp, social media or through the Gloriam website. An appointment is not confirmed until the required deposit has been received and Gloriam has provided confirmation.

Appointment times are subject to availability.

2. Deposit and booking confirmation

A deposit of £50 is required to secure your chosen appointment.

The deposit must be paid within two hours of the payment request. If payment is not received within this period, the appointment request may be cancelled and the time made available to another client.

Once received, the deposit will be deducted from the final cost of your service.

Payment details will be provided privately when the appointment is requested. Clients may be asked to send proof of payment so that the booking can be confirmed.

3. Prices and quotations

Prices may vary depending on the service, hair length, thickness, condition, colour history, products required and the amount of time needed.

Any price provided before a technical consultation is an estimate. The final price will be confirmed after the hair has been assessed and before the service begins.

If additional work or products become necessary during the appointment, this will be discussed with you before proceeding.

The remaining balance is due on the day of the appointment.

4. Cancellations and rescheduling

If you need to cancel or rearrange your appointment, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice.

Where at least 24 hours’ notice is provided, the deposit may be transferred to a rearranged appointment, subject to availability.

For cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice, or where the client does not attend the appointment, Gloriam may retain the deposit as a cancellation charge to cover losses reasonably and directly caused by the cancellation.

Any amount retained will not exceed Gloriam’s reasonable loss resulting from the cancelled appointment. Gloriam will take reasonable steps to reduce that loss, including attempting to offer the appointment to another client where practical.

A new £50 deposit may be required before another appointment can be confirmed.

Nothing in this section affects any statutory cancellation rights that may apply.

5. Distance and online bookings

Where an appointment is booked online, by telephone, WhatsApp or another distance communication method, you may have a statutory right to cancel the service contract within 14 days, depending on the circumstances.

If you request an appointment that will take place during this 14-day period, you expressly ask Gloriam to begin providing the service before the cancellation period has ended.

Once the service has been fully performed at your request, you may lose the statutory right to cancel. If you cancel after the service has begun but before it has been completed, you may be required to pay a reasonable amount for the service already provided.

These provisions do not affect appointments or situations where statutory cancellation rights do not apply.

6. Late arrival

Please arrive on time for your appointment.

If you arrive late, Gloriam may need to shorten, adjust or reschedule the service to avoid affecting other clients. The full agreed charge may still apply where the reserved appointment time cannot reasonably be used for another booking.

If the delay means the service cannot be completed safely or to the required professional standard, a new appointment and deposit may be required.

7. Consultations and hair history

Clients must provide complete and accurate information about:

  • Previous colouring, bleaching, straightening or chemical treatments

  • Products used on the hair

  • Allergies, sensitivities or previous reactions

  • Relevant medical conditions or medication

  • The current condition of the hair and scalp

Withholding relevant information may affect the safety, suitability and outcome of the service.

Gloriam may amend, postpone or refuse a service where there is a reasonable concern about the condition of the hair or scalp, the client’s safety or the expected result.

8. Allergy alert and strand testing

Colouring and chemical services may require an allergy alert test, strand test or both before the appointment.

Testing will be carried out according to the instructions of the product manufacturer, professional guidance and the individual circumstances of the client.

If a required test is not completed within the specified time, produces an adverse reaction or indicates that the service may be unsuitable, Gloriam may postpone or refuse the service.

A previous negative allergy test does not guarantee that a future reaction will not occur. Clients must immediately report any irritation, discomfort or unusual reaction.

9. Results and colour expectations

Gloriam will assess the hair and discuss achievable results before beginning the service.

Colour results may vary depending on the natural hair colour, previous chemical services, colour build-up, hair condition, porosity and maintenance history.

Reference photographs may be used for inspiration, but an identical result cannot be guaranteed. Gloriam will recommend an approach designed to achieve the best possible result while protecting the health and integrity of the hair.

Some transformations may require more than one appointment.

10. Hair extensions

Clients receiving hair extension maintenance must follow the aftercare guidance provided.

Gloriam is not responsible for damage, matting, slippage or reduced longevity caused by incorrect aftercare, unsuitable products, missed maintenance appointments or failure to follow professional instructions.

This does not exclude responsibility where a service has not been provided with reasonable care and skill.

11. Aftercare

The longevity and condition of a service depend partly on the client’s home-care routine.

Clients are responsible for following the aftercare recommendations provided, including guidance concerning washing, heat styling, products and future maintenance.

Failure to follow aftercare guidance may affect the appearance, condition or longevity of the result.

12. Children and accompanying guests

Due to limited space and the use of professional tools and chemical products, please avoid bringing children or additional guests unless this has been agreed in advance.

Any child present must remain under the supervision of their accompanying adult at all times.

13. Personal belongings

Clients are responsible for their personal belongings during the appointment.

Gloriam will take reasonable care but cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage unless caused by negligence.

Clients are advised not to wear valuable clothing or accessories that may be affected by colour or salon products. Protective coverings will be provided where appropriate.

14. Cancellations by Gloriam

Gloriam may need to cancel or rearrange an appointment because of illness, an emergency, unsafe working conditions or circumstances beyond reasonable control.

Where Gloriam cancels an appointment, the client may choose to transfer the deposit to a new appointment or receive a refund of the amount paid.

Gloriam will not be responsible for indirect costs or losses, such as travel or accommodation expenses, except where required by law.

15. Concerns and complaints

If you are unhappy with any part of your service, please contact Gloriam as soon as reasonably possible so that the concern can be assessed.

You may be asked to return for an in-person assessment before any corrective service is agreed.

Where a service has not been provided with reasonable care and skill, Gloriam will provide the remedies required under applicable consumer law. Depending on the circumstances, this may include repeat performance or an appropriate price reduction.

Please do not arrange corrective work with another salon before giving Gloriam a reasonable opportunity to inspect and address the concern.

16. Photographs and social media

Before-and-after photographs or videos will only be taken and used for marketing purposes with the client’s permission.

Consent may be withdrawn for future use by contacting Gloriam. Withdrawal will not affect material already lawfully published before the request was received, although reasonable efforts will be made to remove content from channels controlled by Gloriam where appropriate.

17. Privacy

Personal information is handled in accordance with the Gloriam Privacy Policy and applicable UK data protection law.

Please refer to the Privacy Policy for information about how personal data is collected, used, stored and protected.

18. Consumer rights

Gloriam will provide services with reasonable care and skill and within a reasonable time where no specific time has been agreed.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits any rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable consumer law.

19. Changes to these terms

Gloriam may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time.

The terms in effect when your appointment is confirmed will apply to that booking. Any material changes affecting an existing appointment will be communicated to you.

20. Governing law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, without limiting any rights a consumer may have to bring proceedings in another part of the United Kingdom where legally permitted.
